Have you heard of the term, the “Great Resignation?” Now, more than ever, people are resigning from their current job or career and are moving into something different. Whether it’s more flexibility, less stress, a desire to increase income, or just more time with family, so many people are looking for a career that offers them more.
This was true even for us in 2021. Matt worked a full-time job in law enforcement and I (Abbie) worked a full-time job in public health. We both left these careers for a variety of the reasons listed above. We now both work in real estate (Matt full-time and I part-time) and are enjoying a lot of the benefits that a career in real estate has to offer.
Check out this list of benefits!
1) Flexibility.
A career in real estate offers a lot of flexibility. Gone are the days for us of having to sit at a desk from 8am-5pm. (or a jail from 5pm-5am) Need to pick up a kid from school? We’re there? Mid-day school concert? We can attend! Just need a longer lunch to connect with family or friends? Sign us up! This doesn’t mean that we aren’t available for our clients. It’s just meets that we can work with their schedule and ours to determine what works best for us, and this makes for a much more flexible schedule than a 9-5 job.
2) Be your own boss.
While this can be one of the scarier parts of a real estate career, it’s also one of the biggest benefits. It does take some getting used to, if you are used to a manager or supervisor telling you what to do each step of the way. However, with discipline and hard work, being your own boss can be one of the most rewarding aspects of real estate. You set your schedule, and the work you put in is often what you will gain from it.
3) Education is low cost, or sometimes, even FREE.
If you don’t want to jump back into school and get into student loan debt, or you don’t have the time, real estate is a really great option. Classes are often offered online (or in-person if you prefer to learn this way) at your own pace. So if you are a busy person, you can fit the schooling in on your own schedule. Keller Williams School of Realty is offering classes now for FREE. Classes are expected to start in December. If you want in on this amazing opportunity, reach out to us on our contact us page! We would love to connect you with someone and get you enrolled in real estate school!
4) Additional income.
The additional income that real estate has offered us, has allowed us to increase our investment portfolio and to do things that we never thought were possible. Matt was able to quit his law enforcement job, and I was able to take a career that offered much more flexibility with young kids at home. If you aren’t able to make the leap into real estate full-time right away, using it as a side hustle can be a great option for someone looking to switch things up or make additional income on the side.
These are just a few of the huge benefits that we’ve witnessed in our real estate careers, but we could go on and on.
Real estate is hard work, and it’s also some of the most rewarding, helping people to buy and sell their homes in the Winona and La Crosse area.
